On 7th November 2024, YTL Developments hosted Claire Hazelgrove, Member of Parliament for Filton and Bradley Stoke, to discuss our commitment to building sustainable, energy-efficient new homes for Bristol at Brabazon.
Set on the historic Filton Airfield, Brabazon is emerging as one of the UK’s most exciting and sustainable new city districts.
During her visit, the MP toured the latest new homes on sale and witnessed the installation of new air-source heat pumps at The Heritage District.
Manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric, the Ecodan air-source heat pumps are the low-carbon heating solution that YTL Developments has chosen to power the latest collection of new two-, three- and four-bedroom homes at Brabazon.
With the Ecodan heat pumps, in addition to photovoltaic solar panels, A-rated windows and doors and excellent insulation, all properties have been awarded a predicted energy rating of ‘A’.
The homes are set on a network of garden streets and squares that are designed to boost biodiversity. A new network of walking routes and cycle paths will criss-cross the neighbourhood, connecting residents to the new MetroBus services and the new train station, which will connect to Bristol Temple Meads in less than 15 minutes.
After her visit, Hazelgrove expressed enthusiasm about Brabazon’s pioneering approach to housing: “The housing crisis has long seen too few homes available for local people to rent or buy, seeing some people pushed out of the area or not able to put down roots. This isn’t right. Our new Labour government is tackling this by getting Britain building again, and that means more high-quality homes, with the vital infrastructure and genuine green spaces that communities need to thrive.
“The new community and homes at Brabazon have a strong focus on energy efficiency, by using the latest in modern technology. Mitsubishi Electric’s Ecodan heat pumps are providing a renewable heating solution and I’m proud that the standard is being set here in our part of the world.”
Russell Dean, Deputy Divisional Manager at Mitsubishi Electric, underscored the importance of their partnership with YTL Developments, adding: “We are thrilled to partner with YTL Developments at Brabazon. The Ecodan heat pumps being installed will provide residents with a reliable and sustainable heating solution that supports the UK’s drive towards carbon neutrality.”
Jon McDiarmid, Director at YTL Developments, emphasised Brabazon’s environmentally-conscious design, highlighting how each new home is crafted to minimise its environmental footprint: “Sustainability is at the heart of our vision for Brabazon. From promoting active lifestyles to adopting sustainable technologies, our new homes are designed to complement rather than conflict with nature.
“With Ecodan heat pumps, solar panels, energy-efficient appliances and electric car charging all included as standard, we aim to do our bit for the planet, as well as helping to lower bills for residents.
“Designed to be more sustainable, more connected and offer more opportunities, Brabazon is not only a place to live, but a place to enjoy the best that life has to offer.”
