Awaiting Decision: Plans for 239 one and two-bedroom properties at Brabazon, specifically designed for later living.

The plans include landscaped grounds, a meadow to encourage wildlife, and peaceful roof garden. Internally, the carefully considered communal spaces have been designed with a comfortable lounge in which to play games or to gather with friends, a restaurant and bar to act as a social hub, as well as a library and wellbeing suite with spa facilities and activity rooms.

Approved: Plans for 1,514 beds of student accommodation across four mansion-style buildings on the southern boundary, close to the new railway station at Brabazon.

The designs provide places to socialise and to study; separate bedrooms are arranged in clusters around communal spaces that will balance studying with a rich social experience.

Approved: Developed through extensive consultation, the updated Masterplan application is designed to create a thriving new urban neighbourhood that is more sustainable, more connected, and that lives up to the legacy of the former Airfield’s pioneering past.

Approved: Plans to transform Hangar 16U - a Grade II listed aircraft hangar - into an incredible 21st century community hub. 

The restoration work of the building, which once housed ‘Battle of Britain’ fighter planes, will see this historic structure return to its rightful place as the centre of community life, home to a brand-new café, gym and social centre.

Approved: Plans for the next phase of new homes at Brabazon. 

The designs aim to create a strong sense of community by introducing a new ’living streets’ concept, with shared gardens and an additional play area for children that will bring residents together. 

There will also be no gas-based heating, helping to reduce reliance on natural resources and enabling more sustainable lifestyles.

Approved: In October 2021, Network Rail submitted an application to build the new rail station at Brabazon. Once operational, the station - currently known as North Filton - will connect Brabazon to Bristol Temple Meads in less than 15 minutes.

Approved: The largest new urban public park in the South West for 50 years. Equivalent in size to Bristol’s Castle Park, Brabazon Park will feature mature trees, play and exercise areas, landscaped gardens and a three-acre lake, creating a new haven for wildlife and a landmark leisure destination for North Bristol.

Approved: A detailed planning application to deliver the primary road network at Brabazon, submitted under the framework of the existing Masterplan. This includes wide pedestrian boulevards, over 3Km of segregated cycle routes and separate bus lanes, including three MetroBus stops. 

Approved: Plans to transform the historic Brabazon Hangars – where every UK Concorde was built – into a supersonic new Arena for Bristol. 

This 19,000-capacity venue will not only put Bristol on the world stage for live music and entertainment, but also be the most sustainable entertainment venue in Europe. 

Approved: Plans to deliver the first phase of new homes at Brabazon. 

Known as The Hangar District, the 302 houses and apartments are designed to be different and much more energy efficient.

Approved (Superseded in 2024): The original Masterplan for Brabazon, including over 2,675 new homes, 62 acres of employment space, three new schools, transport infrastructure and community and leisure facilities, all set around landscaped public squares and parkland.
